Leonardo Srl is a modern cultural and operative laboratory highly specialized, with all the skills to intervene in terms of preservation, restoration and maintenance of cultural heritage, respecting and improving his history and identity.

Leonardo operates on cultural heritage from analysis to restoration. The many years of experience along with a continuous theoretical activity and scientific research enable the company to operate in an efficient, innovative way and in full respect of the artworks. Leonardo intervenes both in the planning phase (analysis of materials, conservation status, development of the artfacts and construction methods, definition of restoration projects and analysis for restoration) and in the executive phase (restoration of mobile and non-mobile assets, detailed documentation of interventions, monitoring over time to supervise the operations carried out).

The company is characterized by the presence of two specific type of professionals: restorers and experts in analysis of cultural heritage which daily cooperate and interact in all our fields of interventions are these of restoration, maintenance or conservation.

Since its establishment has done more than 400 operations, for both public and private commissioner, reaching a working group composed of 30 specialized operators in all the different sectors. Keeping the same workgroup in time and the organization of continuous training has allowed the creation of a shared experience in all fields and a continuous professional development of the entire company.

The company is structured and provided for a long time of a technical, logistical and administrative organization which permits to operate throughout the country; as well as important projects in Bologna and in Emilia Romagna may therefore include the work done in cities such as Turin, Como, Venice, Novara and L’Aquila. In the latter it has had the opportunity to collaborate and create synergies for the implementation of interventions in complex and difficult cases as the buildings that have suffered earthquake damage. The experience in L’Aquila was helpful as comparison for the work done with great involvement also in Emilia Romagna (following the earthquake of 2012).

Through the sponsorship of the ICE (Italian Trade Promotion Agency) and the collaboration with Assorestauro, for some years Leonardo has begun a series of consultations and training activities abroad (mostly in Turkey and Russia) with the aim of transmitting the Italian know-how in countries very interested in restoration.

Among the many restorations are reported the most important: in Bologna Basilica of San Petronio, Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande, Palazzo Gnudi, Villa Cicogna, Church of San Giovanni in Monte, Palazzo della Mercanzia, Palazzo Grassi, Palazzo del Podestà, Asinelli Tower, Tomb of Rolandino, Villa Talon in Casalecchio di Reno, Ghirlandina in Modena, Ca ‘Dolfin in Venice, Basilica of San Gaudenzio in Novara.

In his interventions the company uses always innovative and eco-sustainable methods as the system GREEN RESTORATION® devised by Leonardo with the desire to create a protocol for reducing the environmental impact of the restoration.

This system is based on the Protocol of LEED certification and received the GREEN ECONOMY AWARD OF LEGAMBIENTE AND EMILIA ROMAGNA (2013 edition) because it helps reduce the emission of pollutants from  the restoration site and guarantee the protection of operators, visitors and environment.
